Erwin Müller office building

Mr. Richard Liesche ran the Grasersche Buchhandlung in 1904. According to records from 1912, the owners of the building were Paul Müller, a bookseller, and Erwin Müller, a teacher in Chemnitz. Like all the other buildings in Herrenstraße, the building burned down completely in the great city fire. In August 1912, a permit application was submitted to the city council for the demolition of the remains of the fire and for the excavation of the cellar and the construction of a new building. The house was the first building to be constructed using reinforced concrete skeleton construction. The client was Mr. Paul Müller. The new building was erected for Mr. Müller and Mr. Steinl. Mr. Walter Riese, the architect, redesigned the house and the keystone contains the year 1912 and p m as free architecture the note above the entrance door.

In October 1937, Mr. Paul Müller was named as the bookshop owner and a Miss E. Windisch ran the business and later became the owner. In November 1937, Mr. Müller applied to the town council for permission to have an advertising sign affixed to his house. From June 1944, a Mrs. Müller née Windisch was mentioned as the owner of the house.
